Psychoanalysis is a more intensive type of therapy. In an analysis, a patient will come in four times per week and lie down on a couch. Once on the couch, my patients are encouraged to say whatever comes to mind, or to free-associate. The frequency of sessions allows a much deeper understanding of how your mind works. Your feelings about your analyst will be a window into understanding how you relate to others and will be a very important part of your treatment. Psychoanalysis is very helpful for people who want to know themselves more deeply or who have longstanding difficulties that have not responded to less intensive types of treatment. I have four additional years of training in psychoanalysis beyond my training as a psychotherapist. Psychoanalysis is a remarkable tool. Please contact me to learn more.
